In the spirit of new beginnings and peace on Earth, I am reversing and removing all official publications of the 2025 July 24th bulletin. Itch.io revenue sharing will be restored.
This statement is not a retraction or an apology. I reaffirm all of my judgments of the abrupt communications breakdown, and I believe basic foresight regarding relevant systemic issues facing software marketplaces would have allowed for a safer reestablishment and curation process. Those who suffered the most were the software developers whose lives and business were pulled out from under them with not even a word, but merely the hollow image of a salute.
What this statement is, not being a retraction, is an acknowledgment that Itch.io has sufficiently reaffirmed its commitment to honest and straightforward business. I believe that the operators thereof have obtained the necessary insight and wisdom from these trials to continue with reduced risk of upheaval. It is in the spirit of fairness and reconciliation that I make this redaction; the urgent Itch.io bulletin has served and outlived its intended purpose.
If anything is to be taken away from these events, it is that I wish us all the wisdom and vigilance to foresee the tribulations ahead of us, both in our singular lives and in our shared culture. Let us look to the future with eyes that see the truth.
